A quick update....
After a hectic few days in Welkcom and Odendaalsrus, we left for our mid-tour break, which turned out to be a self-catering house about 7 kilometres outside Kroonstad. Not quite what we had expected, but we quickly got organised, and our hosts (Steve and Andrew) provided transport to the local Pik 'n Pay where we stocked up on supplies. James then demonstrated his cheffing skills and produced a spaghetti bolognese, which went down well with the troops.
Having decided that the night was still young, Andrew's arm was twisted to provide transport to a local hostelry, where (to a background of excessively loud music) Sarah took on (and defeated) all-comers at pool, revealing yet another aspect of her many talents. The local volk didn't quite know how to take this, but quickly rallied round to provide samples of various local brews. The team went home tired, but happy (notwithstanding a bit of babelas the next morning!) and were soon ready to take on the world again.
Sunday lunch was with hosts, followed by a visit to Boskoppie lion reserve (they also have tigers, leopard, and one or two small animals) We felt that the animals looked content and healthy. A pleasant afternoon in the sun.
After this, and informal evening at the Kroonstat Rotary club. Dawn's latest challenmge emerged here when she decided to learn the four-way test in Afrikaans.

Monday was a busy vocational day - more of this in the next post!
